Perplate

Privacy policy

Effective 24 October 2026. Applies to Perplate for Android (package com.nktools.perplate) and Perplate for Windows (Microsoft Store), made by NK Tools.

Perplate is a food diary. This page explains what information the apps handle, why, and the choices you have. There is no Perplate account and no Perplate server, and we don't sell your personal information.

Your food diary stays on your device

The foods you log, your recipes, your own foods, your calorie goal and your settings are stored in a database on your phone or PC. They are not sent to us. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes them. Export and Back up create files only where you choose to save or share them.

Optional sync through your Google Drive

If you turn on "Sync phone and PC", you sign in with Google and allow Perplate to use its own app folder in your Google Drive (the drive.appdata permission). Perplate keeps one file there with your diary entries, recipes and your own foods, so your devices can stay in step. It also reads your Google account email address only to show which account is syncing.

Perplate's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This data is used only to provide sync to you, is not used for advertising, and is not transferred to anyone else.

Barcode lookups (Open Food Facts)

When you scan or type a barcode, Perplate sends that barcode number to Open Food Facts, a free public food database, to get the product's nutrition. Nothing else about you is sent. The product is then saved on your device. On Android the camera is used only while the scanner is open and images are not stored or sent.

Advertising on Android (Google AdMob)

Perplate for Android is free and shows optional rewarded videos (for example to unlock more recipe slots) and occasional full-screen ads at natural breaks, never while you're adding food. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect:

Ads are never based on what you eat: your diary is not shared with AdMob. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change your choice in Settings > Ad privacy choices. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Perplate for Windows shows no ads.

Usage analytics on Android (Google Firebase Analytics)

The Android app may send anonymous usage events to Google Firebase Analytics, such as "a food was logged" (with its source, for example barcode or Indian dish, but never the food's name or amount), "a recipe was saved" or "sync was turned on". These events are tied to a random app-instance identifier, not to your name or email.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Perplate for Android shows an evening reminder to log dinner when dinner is empty. Reminders are scheduled on your phone and need no server. Turn them off in Settings or in Android's notification settings.

Perplate Pro for Windows (Lemon Squeezy)

Pro is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant and handles payment, receipts and tax. We receive the order details Lemon Squeezy shares with sellers (such as your name, email and country) to provide support; we never see your card. When you activate a licence key, the app sends the key and your computer's name to Lemon Squeezy to register the activation, and checks the key from time to time. See the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy.

This website

This site sets no cookies and loads no trackers. The video on the home page loads from YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) only after you click play; YouTube may then set cookies under its own policy.

Health information

Your diary can include information about what you eat. It stays on your device (and in your own Google Drive if you turn on sync). Perplate shows carb totals only; it does not calculate insulin doses and is not medical advice.

Children

Perplate is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security and retention

Connections to Google, Open Food Facts and Lemon Squeezy are encrypted. Data on your device stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. The sync file stays in your Google Drive until you delete it from Perplate or revoke its access.
